Rebuilding Resilient with Storage: All Eyes on Puerto Rico

Room: Ballroom East
Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2018
Time: 1:30PM - 2:30PM EST

Following devastating hurricanes in the southern U.S. and Caribbean, power system resilience has been top of mind for state and federal policymakers. Continuing lack of power in Puerto Rico, in particular, has elevated the discussion of the role of energy storage and DERs in both the rebuilding of the system and ways to mitigate the impact of future disasters.

How can storage be a part of the power system recovery in Puerto Rico? What are the biggest barriers to storage and DERs for resilience, there and more broadly? What are the current policy conversations advancing the role of storage and DERs in power system resilience?

In this breakout session, we will discuss the role of storage in plans to build back better in Puerto Rico, illuminate state & federal policy barriers, and discuss ways that storage can be a greater part of current and future resilience planning.
